Description

NGC 1313 is a isolated galaxy in Reticulum that has its disorganized shape from star burst activity and not by colliding with a neighbor, as there are no close by galaxies.  It is further atypical in its assymetrical arms and the fact that the center of rotation is not the middle of the central bar.

The data for this image was originally acquired and processed in January 2008. In March 2009 we dug up the old data and reprocessed it.
