NGC7814 is an edge on spiral galaxy located in the constellation Pegasus. This galaxy bears a strong resemblence to M104, the Sombrero galaxy and is sometimes called the Little Sombrero. The galaxy lies about 40 million light years away. If you look closely at this image, you will also see many small background galaxies, the brightest of which (at the 4:00 position) being IC5381. This galaxy also has a large number of globular clusters around it and some of the "fuzzy dots" next to the galaxy are likely these globulars. Other small "fuzzy dots" are likely background galaxies as can be seen in the Hubble image here. |
