GRB Detection

The Trubble Terrestrial Telescope (TTT) is a 14 " RCOS used by Jack Harvey to capture Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) afterglows in a NASA funded project developed by the Dept of Astronomy and Physics at the University of Northern Carolina.  Proprietary software allows the telescope located in Fort Collins, Colorado to be alerted to a GRB by NASA's Swift satellite and then be slewed to the location and serially image the afterglow.  The telescopes in this project are an array of 6 16 inch RCOS' located in Cerro Tololo, Chile and TTT in Colorado.  Another aspect of the program is to let member colleges log into the telescopes and enter jobs to obtain astronomical data for their reseach projects.
